Stand-up Dinner and exhibition in Gallery Boomerang
Gallery Boomerang, owned and operated by ABIE member Peter Madden and his partner Abigail Esman- Madden is the location for this networking and knowledge sharing event. Gallery Boomerang’s mission is to to exhibit works by both Western and non-Western modern and contemporary artists side-by-side in curated exhibitions that showcase both recognized international artists and emerging talent from around the world.
We are thrilled to welcome the internationally acclaimed Murat Germen to the Netherlands and hear the story of his creative spirit and work. Murat Germen is a renowned Turkish photographer who has photographed in over 60 countries, and whose work is included in numerous corporate, private, and museum collections – as well as being enjoyed by nearly 35,000 followers on social media. By combining photographic with digital techniques, he manipulates landscapes and cityscapes into intriguing images that are at the same time both familiar and unfamiliar, capturing the imagination and the eye. The works on view at Boomerang were commissioned specially for this exhibition.
Abigail R. Esman-Madden grew up in the heart of the New York artworld, surrounded by artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Christo, and art dealers like the legendary Leo Castelli. Her parents were passionate collectors, and her mother worked together with artists such as Warhol, Lichtenstein, and other Pop artists early in their careers before opening her own art gallery, where Abigail often pitched in. Her career began in art journalism, which she still pursues for the International New York Times and others, but in the 1980s she also began independent art dealing and advising. She has also worked with corporations to augment their collections, such as USB Bank, Swiss Bank Corporation, and more. She will talk about the joys of art collecting, as well as the strength of art as an asset class, both for individuals and for corporations, with tips for understanding the art market and developing a deeper understanding of art itself.
